Big, bold and flashy describe this 1940s retro modern amethyst diamond ring. With almost 11 carats of a rectangular shaped purple amethyst holding center stage, this ring draws attention from across the room. Framing this amethyst are bold rolled white gold scrolls. These dramatic scrolls have six shiny diamonds mounted in an elaborate engraved white gold design. This bi-color ring is crafted in 18kt rose and white gold.
Post war rings were known for their flash, color and size. Rings were large and often created in bi-color or tri-color gold. The scrolling design of 1940s rings were created to match the big padded shoulders of ladies clothing. Fashion and design were influenced by Hollywood and the end of prohibition.
Rose gold is created when copper is added to yellow gold.
